Cleaning Aveda Wooden Paddle Brush

Shampoo can be used to clean the bristles of Aveda Wooden Paddle Brush

To avoid buildup, it is critical to clean your hair brush bristles on a regular basis. Shampoo is excellent for cleansing the bristles of hair brushes. Shampooing your hairbrush removes product buildup, hair, oil, and dirt. To avoid brushing your hair with a dirty hair brush, clean your hair brushes at least once a month.

1. Remove Hair From Your Aveda Brush

First, hair should be removed. Pick out hair using the end of a rat tail comb or teasing brush. Alternatively, you can use a comb to help remove hair. Why brush your hair with a dirty hairbrush when you’ve just spent all that money on shampoo and washed your hair? Consider how much money you just spent on shampoo and how much time you spent making sure your hair was clean.

It’s a good habit to always take a few seconds to remove hair from your brush after each use. You may simply accomplish this by holding your brush in one hand and a comb in the other. Hold the teeth of a rat tail comb (a pointed handle) and drag the point of the handle through the bristles a few times to loosen and remove any hair. You can also use the comb’s teeth to remove hair by lightly raking the teeth over and through the bristles. This technique will lift the hair up, allowing you to finish pulling it out of the brush with your fingers.

2. Wash Your Aveda Brush Using Shampoo

Then, holding the brush handle, swirl the brush head in a bowl of hot soapy water. Scrub the bristles with a toothbrush. If you don’t have an old toothbrush, another brush will suffice.

Did you know it’s a good idea to shampoo your Aveda hairbrush once a month or so? This cleanup operation, when performed on a regular basis, removes dirt, oil, and any built-up hair products. Holding the handle and whirling the brush head in a bowl of warm water is an easy way to do this. The next step is to apply a few drops of soft shampoo (I use baby shampoo) on the bristles of a toothbrush and scrub the bristles. Don’t forget to scrub the hairbrush’s base as well. Finally, rinse the brush by whirling it in a dish of clean water. If you have a wooden hairbrush, proceed with caution. Do not immerse your hairbrush in water as this may cause damage to the cushion and the bristles.

3. Rinse And Dry Your Brush Your Aveda Brush

Finally, spin your brush in a bowl of clean water to rinse it. Make certain that your brush is completely dry. Maintaining good hygiene is essential, and the same goes for your hairbrushes. Plus, once you get into a routine, it becomes second nature. In the end, it’s just a nice technique to keep dirt from piling up and making cleaning much more difficult.

After cleaning your Aveda brush, lay it out on a dry cloth to dry overnight. Do not expose to the sun. Simply place it in a safe, out-of-the-way location to dry naturally. Check that the bristles are facing down. Many cushion brushes contain a small hole in the cushion at the base of the brush to allow water to drain and air to circulate within the brush’s cushion.
