10 Top Hot Air Brushes for 2020

Hot air brushes included in this video are the Revlon ceramic, hot tools professional volumizer, Helen of troy 1574, Tru beauty titanium, John Frieda jfha5, Revlon smooth, bz style, Calista tools perfecter, Bangmeng one step, and Conair Infiniti pro.

Revlon vs Revlon: One Step Hair Dryer

Revlon vs Revlon: one-step hair dryer and styler. Two Revlon hair dryers from the drugstore are going head to head. Both are one-step hair dryers and stylers and the original is also a hair volumizer.

Which hair dryer will win?

Revlon vs Revlon both are One Step hair dryers. The first one an oval shape (volumizer) which has a flat side on the top and bottom then curves around the brush. It also has both types of bristles, nylon and boar. The second brush is a paddle type brush but only has the nylon bristles. So with this one you won’t get the benefits of natural boar bristles while you are drying your hair.

The Revlon One Step paddle brush is $33.99 and the oval one is a little more expensive ans comes in at $59.99. I can see why the oval hot brush would be a little more expensive because of the boar bristles and because it have bristles on both sides of the brush. Having bristles on both sides allows your hair to wrap around the brush if you so desire.
Revlon One Step Hair Dryer Paddle Style Hot Brush Pros and Cons
Pros Cons
Price @ $33.99 Has nylon bristles – No boar bristles
Light weight Uneven air flow
Nice cushion 2 heat settings

Inconsistent finish and style

No volume – Paddle style brush

Not much tension and control

The paddle brush does have a nice cushion so it you press the bristles they will flex due to the cushion. And the paddle brush is noticeably lighter in weight than the oval hot brush. So if weight is a determining factor then choose the paddle style hot brush.

To make it easier before you dry your hair you can apply some leave in conditioner or use a heat protectant product. Then do a quick comb through with a wide tooth comb to remove any tangles. This will make it a lot easier to use the hot brush.

Revlon One Step Hair Dryer Oval Style Hot Brush Pros and Cons
Pros Cons
Has boar bristles Uneven air flow
Better tension and control 2 heat settings
Better style and finish Costs a little more than the paddle
Can add volume to hair

The heat controls are either Low or High. Both these products does not really give you much options. The Low might be too low and the High is most likely going to be too hot. For this reason I am not a big fan of hot brushes with only 2 heat settings.

Air flow through these all-in-one hot brushes are usually not the greatest and the paddle style brush is no exception. Air flow is not even. Most of the air comes from the top of the hot brush. The idea behind using a paddle brush is that you can generally finish 25% quicker due to the brush covers more hair with each brush stoke. But if the hair flow is poor and only comes out the top then this defeats using a paddle bush.

The oval hot brush grabs your hair giving you more control. This allows you to apply tension to your hair when styling. More tension generally means better results. Also it’s worth noting the oval brush does not have air flow all around the brush. It suffers from the same uneven air flow as the Paddle style hot brush. The air only flows in a certain spot on one side and more toward the top of the brush.

It’s also worth noting that Paddle style brushes generally are not the best design to get close to your scalp. A round brush is going to do a much superior job at getting closer to your hair line. So if you are looking for a hot brush that can dry your hair close to your scalp then you are going to need to choose the oval design.

With the Revlon Paddle One Step hot brush air flow is so uneven it's almost impossible to get a nice consistent finish across all of your hair. Part of your hair, especially near your scalp, is going to be damp while other parts are going to be dry. This will give you an inconsistent look and finish.

The Revlon Oval One Step hot brush will give you more volume. With the paddle brush you will not be able to get as much if any volume. So if you are wanting to get more volume the oval shaped hot brush is going to be much better.

And the winner is: The Revlon One Step Oval hot brush

BaBylissPRO MiraCurl 3 Curl Review | Automatic Curling Iron

I know this curling iron has been out for some time now, but I bought it recently and I wanted to review it and let you know my thoughts on it. I love it, but there are some things I don't love about it, so I'm going to keep working with it all week long and if I still get the same result I'm going to take it back and buy it back when my hair grows back in 3-6 months or so.

Hair Tutorial Conair Infinity Pro Air Spin Brush

I have enjoyed this hair tool SO much, I think there are several different "models"~ the on/off switch may be a little different but they should all work with this "method"~this is not for a "straight hair" blowout, I do think the Revlon One Step Volumizer - $35.65 may be better for you if you just want more smoothing this one is just perfect for me because I like a little more curl and it does not get as hot.

John Frieda Hot Air Brush

I have heard some really good reviews about the John Frieda hair brush so let's take a deeper dive.
The John Frieda hot brush has a mixture of nylon ball tips bristles and regular bristles that are a little shorter and do not have ball tips. Heat settings are Low, High and Cold. I must mention I am not a big fan of only having 2 heat settings. Like I said before Low is going to be not hot enough and High will most likely be too hot.

The one really big Pro for the John Frieda hot brush is that it’s really lightweight. And of course the price is a big plus at less than forty bucks. The hot brush has a good amount of control. Due to the two lengths of bristles you can apply a good amount of tension while styling and drying your hair. This will equate to having a much better looking style when finished. Hair will be not a frizzy and curls will have more definition and bounce. Not as good as with a round boar brush and a high quality hair dryer but for the price, it’s not bad at all. Also with a a high quality blow dryer you will be done much faster due to the amount of air a good hair dryer can pump out as compared to a hot brush. If you have really thick hair this hot brush is not for you due to it’s just going to take too long to dry and style as compared to using a blow dryer.

John Frieda Hot Brush Pros and Cons
Pros Cons
Two levels of bristles Not for thick hair
Price @ $39.99 2 heat settings
Better style and finish Takes a little longer
Can add volume to hair
Lightweight

If you have long hair and your hair is thin to medium thin you can use this product to dry your hair but it going to take longer. So for that reason I can’t recommend you use the hot brush that way. You may want to consider drying your hair first then when about 80% dry use the John Frieda hot brush to add the last bit of style to your hair.

If you are planning to purchase make sure you get the right size. The John Frieda hot brush comes in a one inch version for shorter hair and tighter curls and waves and a one and one half inch for longer hair and looser curls and waves.

When done you hair will feel soft, smooth and less frizzy. Overall a good solid hot brush.
